GLOBAL STUDIES
During the 2011-2012 school year, our high school studied the general themes of "Playing for Change" and "Love Through the Ages". Linked below are the projects I completed for this course.
For this class, I read I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak, A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare and Black & White by Malorie Blackman.
Playing for Change Day
A short unit centering on the idea of creative activism.
Diwali Night Celebration
A longer unit, focusing on the study of India, and the many different aspects of Indian culture. I chose to do my research on the Ramayana, and I wrote a modern version of the epic poem.
Romeo & Juliet / Black & White
A unit celebrating the theme of "Love Through the Ages", we read and analyzed two similar texts: Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, and Black & White, by Mallorie Blackman.
