DRIVE
DRIVE was an event planned and hosted by the Senior X class, where several projects we'd undertaken over the course of the first semester were displayed.
DRIVE was primarily to learn how a production of that type worked, so our class would be prepared for the final event of the year, a TEDx event based in Cabot.
Four live interviews were planned, with Geof Hewitt, slam-poet champion of Vermont; Jon Groveman, the general consel of the Agency of Natural Resources of the State of Vermont; Amy Levine, the manager of sales at the Cabot Creamery; and Heloise Williams and James Bellizia, of Heloise and the Savoir Faire.
Also displayed at the event were letters to Tony Wagner, author of Creating Innovators. Through the course of the semester, we'd read selections from his text. The letters detailed our thoughts about his work and writing.
The class created posters about trailblazers in their fields of interest, as well as "This I Dream" posters: essays written in the style of the popular radio series with pictures of us, the students. The essays outlined what we hope to accomplish in the future.
The final product included in the collection is a digital story, which was also displayed at the event.
Books we read during this unit included The Adventures of Johnny Bunko, by Dan Pink, Creating Innovators by Tony Wagner and DRIVE by Dan Pink.
Trailblazer Poster
A poster I created to celebrate the work of people I find admirable, and whose footsteps I want to follow in.
This I Dream Poster
A poster I created to tell people attending the DRIVE event what my future aspirations were.
Letter to Tony Wagner
A letter I wrote to Tony Wagner, after reading his book, Creating Innovators.
Digital Story
I interviewed Julie Woods, a self-described “street wolf with a Harvard degree.” She grew up in Los Angeles and worked as a technical writer for most of her life. Now she’s working as The Urban Bliss Shaman, connecting with leaders from all over the world.
