Conversations from the Open Road - Detroit
During the summer of 2014, I spent two weeks with a small group of high school and college students making a documentary project about Detroit with the group Conversations from the Open Road.
We conducted many interviews with people all around Detroit: from UAW Local 600 retirees, to activists from the Grace Lee Boggs Center, to entrepreneurs working from the business incubator Ponyride.
The trip was an amazing experience—I learned so much. Not only about Detroit, but also about humanity, and community, and what those values mean to a city that's rebuilding itself from the ground up.
As a culminating project, I produced a short radio documentary exploring the communities that are being created around Detroit.
